Jackalope 4h 2024

The Jackalope Challenge is a multi-sport adventure race that will take place on May 18, 2024. This event aims to offer teams a memorable sporting and human adventure, while showcasing the beauty and attractions of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.

Disciplines

Running/trekking and kayaking. Each requires map and compass navigation. The distances indicated below may vary slightly from the final route. You must have experience in all disciplines covered by the race.

Course

Teams will traverse an unmarked course of around 18 km, orienting themselves with maps and compass. This event is aimed at those wishing to discover the sport, or at athletes looking for a shorter challenge. Several checkpoints will be optional, so that each team can choose a level of difficulty to match its objectives. The course will remain secret until the day before the race.

Duration

The duration of the race will vary between 3-4h depending on your choice of routes, checkpoints and speed. There will be time barriers at various points along the route.

Teams of 2 - men, women or mixed.

Logistics

The organization will transport the bins and kayaks if required. Teams will have access to their bins at certain transitions between disciplines. The kayak is supplied with your registration and the model will be as follows: https://www.rtmkayaks.com/optimo-evo-confort/

Preliminary general schedule

Friday evening: Check-in at Rimouski campground in the evening.

Saturday, May 18: Race starts around 7am. Closing of the course and prize-giving will take place mid-day.

Camping and lodging

Camping Rimouski: https://campingrimouski.com/ We suggest that you stay at the Rimouski campground on Friday evening. Check-in will be done on site. Don’t delay in booking if you’re looking for a particular type of accommodation.

Possibility of camping (with or without services and RV sites), motel and ready-to-camp. Reserve directly with the campground and mention your Jackalope Challenge membership for a discount.

Registration

The cost per team is $220. This cost includes: transportation of your bins and kayak (if required), kayak rental, course and map design, and post-race meal.

The minimum age to participate is 16 years old when teamed with an adult. This requires approval by race management. Contact us prior to registration to discuss.

Refund policy: 85% of registration fees will be refunded until February 1, 2024. Between February 2 and April 1, 2024, 50% of registration fees will be refunded. Between April 2 and May 1, 2024, 25% of the registration fee will be refunded. Between May 2, 2024 and race day, no refunds will be issued. Until May 2, teams may transfer their registration after informing the organizing committee. In all cases, teams will be charged a transaction fee.
